Linda Arroz is a thought leader and noted lifestyle writer, speaker, storyteller and advisor, whose expertise encompasses the convergence of life & style with technology. Co-author of “Affordable Couture,” she’s quoted regularly in the media, including the Associated Press, Smart Money, The New York Times, Forbes and USA Today.
Makeover Media, a public relations firm Arroz co-founded in 1997, has a reputation as a lifestyle think tank, applying high tech strategies to traditional public relations strategies and business development. Her first clients were VC funded start-ups in the realm of beauty, wellness and lifestyle.
An early adopter, Arroz was in the vanguard of connectivity as editor in chief of Real Size dot com, one of the first women’s hybrid lifestyle and retail portals designed to sell the clothing in the editorial. She produced and appeared on segments for both HSN and Q2, a former shopping channel spin off of QVC, providing fashion and style content created strategically to generate volume in “call to buy” sales.
As a Hollywood stylist, in the late nineties, she worked on one-minute fashion videos created for DoCoMo, the Japanese cell phone giant.
Arroz has appeared on hundreds of TV shows including Good Morning America and Entertainment Tonight, sharing fashion and lifestyle tips and trends, and she played herself in a cameo appearance on the soap opera Bold & Beautiful.
Her body of work includes scores of TV makeovers and trend reports She worked on over 150 television commercials, bringing characters to life through their wardrobe, providing a platform for her fashion philosophy that “If You Can Wear That, You Can Be That©.”
Before Arroz got into the fashion world, she worked for General Motors. During her ten years at GM, she spent time climbing the corporate ladder along with a few stints on the assembly line. Attending business school on General Motors’ dime, she orchestrated her own personal transformation from spot welder to spokes-model.
An influential in the world of specialty fashion, Arroz was one of the first plus size spokes-models to get a lucrative consulting contract. She represented the Spiegel plus size women’s fashion brand, For You From Spiegel, with both catalog and brick and mortar; and worked with them to developed content for print, video, television and radio. Arroz was also the former editor in chief of two specialty fashion magazines, Big Beautiful Woman and Maternity Fashion & Beauty, in the early nineties.
On the retail speaker’s trail, Arroz has worked with the nation’s best fashion retailers including Bloomingdales, Dillard’s, Nordstroms, Macy’s and Saks Fifth Avenue. She has lectured at Fashion Institute of Design in Los Angeles, created curriculum for The University of Oklahoma, taught courses and sat on advisory boards for several California design schools.
Arroz is a former board of Fashion Group International Foundation Los Angeles, is active in architectural preservation, and a member of the Los Angeles Conservancy Modern Committee. At one time she made the “25 Most Powerful Players” a list of influencers and power brokers in the Los Angeles fashion industry, by the California Apparel News.
Originally from the Motor City, Arroz’ roots are firmly planted in rock & roll but her style is defined by the City of the Angels.
